CONTACT US Submit the form on the Contact Us page or call Loveland Academy at 808-524-4243, between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. If calling outside our business hours, please leave us a message. Provide us your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, a little about yourself, and the vocation you are interested in studying. You will be contacted within 3 business days.
BE DETERMINED ELIGIBLE All participants must have the physical and mental ability to spend the day working (or have the potential to build to that capacity). Students should read (with comprehension) at an 8th grade reading level and have some basic computer skills (Word, Excel). We do accept students who do not meet these requirements, but they must be accompanied by a support person (Please see Programs for Students with Disabilities).
The program requires the student to be in attendance for 25.5 hours a week for each 16 week semester. The exact hours will be announced closer to the start of each semester. The program is designed to be somewhat flexible to accommodate student work schedules.
INTERVIEW At an initial interview (can be done via video chat if you are not on Oahu), you will learn about the vocational programs and what it takes to be eligible. You decide if you want to learn more. If you are interested in learning more, you will be given an appointment (can be by phone or video chat) to consult with a vocational instructor in your interest area. BE ADMITTED You will be notified after the interview process if you have been selected for admission.
ENROLL At enrollment, you will meet your assigned vocational instructor, complete paperwork, sign an application for services with the vocational coordinator, and pay tuition for the semester.
PLAN YOUR PROGRAM Prior to getting started with the training, you will develop both a training plan and a training schedule with the vocational coordinator. Each career path requires a certain amount of book work and a certain amount of hands on learning. Some students progress faster than others. You are given as much time as you need, but you may need to enroll in another semester in order to accomplish the work, if you cannot devote full time to your training or if you learn at a slower pace than others.
PAY TUITION AND FEES We have made the cost of this program, for post secondary students, the same as if the student was attending a full time semester of community college or $1890.00 per semester for school year 2016 to 2017. High school students may access the program at half the cost or $945 per semester. They would do the program after school hours, on weekends and during breaks from school. For persons with disabilities, the costs are based on the addional services needed to benefit from the program (i.e. mental health services, speech pathology, occupational therapy, case management, 1:1 skills training, etc.). Required services and costs would be figured out following assessment.
